Passports are recommended for all travel outside of the United States. However, in the Caribbean and Bahamas, passports and tourist cards are not required for U.S. citizens.  You must, however, present some form of identification including, a passport; a federal, state or local government-issued picture ID card, an original or certified copy of your birth certificate along with one of the following photo ID cards, state driver's license, U.S. company employee ID card; or an ID card issued by a private identification card service.

Non-U.S. citizens residing in the United States must show valid Alien Registration (green) cards prior to boarding the vessel. All others must show valid passports and any other required visas prior to boarding the vessel. Please check with a travel agent, government agencies, embassies or consulates to determine documentary requirements..."
